2009 Crawl for the Cure recap
The totals are in and our donation to the MS Society this year is $38,218.00. Wow!
I just can't believe it. In a year that everyone is talking about a bad economy,
you pull off the second best year in history. That puts our 5 year total to over
$164,000. Awesome!
We have a lot of people to thank for making this possible, expecially all of the
TCOR & HTR members that contribute so much throughout the year. You may not realize
this, but we have committee chairmen in charge of brainstorming, planning implementing
the everything necessary to make the event possible. Volunteers are required to
be at each meeting every month and usually do so with a smile. This, by no means,
is accomplished with just a few people. There are about 30 that make it all happen.
You guys all know who you are, so from deep down I say thank you. I truly look forward
to working with everyone in coming years.
Even with all of the cold & rainy weather we had a great turn out. With 69 vehicles
we had our best turnout ever. Thank you so much to everyone that came & supported
the event. Whether you donated $200 or $1500, it all counts and is so appreciated,
more than I can explain. Our goal every year is to change things up keep the event
fresh, new and exciting. One of my favorite additions this year was the lunch we
served on Saturday at the park. We had leftover uncooked food from Friday night
so we decided to bring it to the picnic area and start grilling. People loved having
a hot lunch available and they were more than willing to make a small donation to
help bring our donation total even higher. Another mini fundraiser was born. That
lunch alone added $256 to our total. Thank you.
Of course none of this could happen without all of our sponsor support. Motors-N-
More, RetroFoam of MN, Dynotec and of course Burnsville Offroad were our big donors
this year. Dan: Thank you so much for the many extra things that you do for us.
You always offering more sure makes it easier for us to get this thing off the ground.
We also have a ton of other sponsors & 100% of our door prizes are donated. Don't
think that you go unnoticed or unappreciated. All of this help adds up to propel
our event into overdrive and make it unforgettable.
What I always find fun, is when someone comes up to register and they have some
door prizes or silent auction stuff to donate. That is so cool! Not only are people
willing to pay to play, but then they go above and beyond and donate even more.
Wow! Thank you very, very much.
Last but not least, was our raffle Jeep. Congratulations Tim Kunkel, this year's
winner! Tim received the call during our banquet Saturday night and he was thrilled
to hear that his ticket has been drawn. I hear he's been driving it to his office
30 miles from home and that he is really diggin' it.
We still have a few loose ends to finish up such as the year books and what not,
but rest assured, we'll let you know when we're ready to start the 2010 event already
planned for 3rd weekend in July. We hope to see you there.
A very grateful,
John Johnson
